Jim Vanderwoud has significant experience representing a variety of clients in complex real estate transactions, including joint ventures, financings and the acquisition and disposition of commercial property.

Jim counsels corporate clients regarding the real estate aspects of M&A transactions and in relation to the negotiation of office and retail store leases. 

Jim received his J.D. with Honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, and his B.B.A. with Distinction from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration. Prior to attending law school, he worked in labor relations for International Paper Company and General Electric. 

Jim is actively involved with the Evans Scholar Foundation and Evans Scholar Alumni Association.  He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association, is admitted to practice in Illinois and has appeared pro hac vice before the Northern District of Illinois.
